Taylor Swift and the one-and-only legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber have written a new song for the upcoming holiday-season movie Cats. Set for a premiere on December 20, 2019, it’s unclear how much of the movie will stray from the Broadway musical, but with Taylor Swift and Andrew Llyod Webber writing a new song for the movie “Beautiful Ghosts,” there are big changes underway already.
Taylor Swift who plays Bombalurina, Andrew Lloyd Webber who is the composer and executive producer and screenwriter and director Tom Hooper spoke about the new song and why Andrew felt it was needed. ET also showed a video clip of Taylor singing the new song in a recording booth. Taylor Swift will sing “Beautiful Ghosts” for the opening credits and it seems likely that Taylor’s version will go viral — as most of her music does.
Francesca Hayward, who plays Victoria, will sing “Beautiful Ghosts” in the movie.
Andrew Lloyd Webber explained why he felt the character Victoria needed this song.
“When I first read the screenplay and it seemed the film is seen through Victoria’s eyes, the first thing I said was, we have to have a song for Victoria.”
Andrew spoke to Taylor who immediately wrote the lyrics and voila, magic was born and Cats added a new song to its repertoire.
You may see the interview with Tom Hooper, Taylor Swift, and Andrew Lloyd Webber in the video player below.

The public has only heard a snippet of “Beautiful Ghosts” and is already talking Oscar and Grammy buzz for both Taylor Swift and Andrew Lloyd Webber for the song.
Fans are thrilled that Taylor will be singing the song for the credits and people are also excited to see how Francesca Hayward performs the song and interprets it as Victoria.
Excitement for the movie is picking up and the all-star cast includes Idris Elba as Macavity, Rebel Wilson as Jennyanydots, Ian McKellan as Gus the Theater Cat, Judi Dench as Old Deuteronomy, James Corden as Bustopher Jones, Taylor Swift as Bombalurina, Ray Winston as Growltiger, Mette Towley as Cassandra, Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella, Laurent Bourgeois as Socrates, and Francesca Hayward as Victoria.
What do you think of Taylor Swift’s and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new song “Beautiful Ghosts?” Are you looking forward to seeing Cats in theaters?
