#Roommates, to all of you who predicted this would happen…you were right. It hasn’t even been a month yet and Amber Guyger’s legal team is already in the process of filing an appeal on her behalf, despite her conviction for the murder of Botham Jean. While many are still trying to process Amber Guyger only being sentenced to 10 years for the murder of Botham Jean in his own home and the overwhelming support she received from both Jean’s family and the judge in the case—her legal team has been working overtime to start on appealing her conviction. As reported by @theGrio, one of Guyger’s attorney’s, Robert Rodgers, recently revealed that her legal team hopes her conviction is overturned. In the new appeal process some notable changes will be made. Judge Tammy Kemp will not oversee the appeal hearings, as the Dallas County District Attorney’s office filed a petition to have her recused replaced by another judge after she was harshly criticized for her open displays of support during the initial trial.Legal analysts familiar with this type of decision, state that although Guyger’s legal team has filed an intent to appeal, it’s standard procedure that gives them the leeway for a 90-day extension to file an appeal, it doesn’t necessarily mean they will actually file it.Guyger was convicted of murdering 26-year-old Botham Jean in his home after she claimed she entered the wrong apartment and thought he was an intruder. The jury reached a guilty verdict in less than 24 hours that the shooting was not an accident and she was sentenced to 10 years in prison.Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
