Sad news to report, #Roommates. Based on a recent post on social media, apparently rapper DMX has voluntarily decided to check himself back into rehab.
Just when we thought DMX was on a positive road to sobriety, it appears that is not the case—as evidenced by a post on his Instagram page with a detailed message regarding his decision to check back into rehab. DMX was currently in the middle of touring and was set to perform at this year’s Rolling Loud Festival in New York and at Three 6 Mafia’s reunion show in Memphis, both shows have been cancelled.
The Instagram post detailing the rehab announcement read:
“In his ongoing commitment to putting family and sobriety first, DMX has checked himself into a rehab facility. He apologizes for his cancelled shows and thanks his fans for their continued support.”
DMX was released from prison in January and appeared to be healthy and on a positive path. However, there have been concerns that jumping back into touring so soon after leaving prison was too much to handle for him and his extensive drug issues.
Rumors began to spread about his sobriety when he was a no-show last week at Def Jam’s 35th anniversary concert, where he was one of the headliners. Rappers Fabolous and Jadakiss had to fill in for DMX at the last minute. He previously resigned to Def Jam and was planning to release new music.
We want to send DMX our prayers.
Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
